As if getting to perform in Lucas Oil Stadium alongside The Ohio State University Marching Band wasn’t enough of the treat, MSU won the game 34 to 24.
After 26 years, the Michigan State Spartans are going to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl. And not any Rose Bowl, the 100th Rose Bowl. The experience was entirely surreal, and I would not have wanted to be anywhere else than alongside the rest of the Spartan Marching Band.
I’ve been very lucky to have many amazing marching experiences over my life so far, but I have a feeling that nothing will compare of what is to come. Marching in the Rose Bowl and the Tournament of Roses Parade has always been a dream for me. And now, it’s a reality that isn’t very far away as I start ramping up my physical training to perform the Series down the 5.5 mile route.
Somehow I will refocus on finals and realize that the semester is at a close. On Thursday I head back home in Maryland hopefully to reconnect with old friends and teachers to get caught up on everything I’ve missed.
It is all still unbelievably unreal. I can’t wait to hit California with the Spartan Marching Band and my Hooahs.
And cheers to the Rose Bowl 2014 patch coming soon.
