Drum Major Academy UNC Charlotte

Drum Major Academy UNC Charlotte

Another Academy, another dorm room! I was absolutely privileged to spend the past five days at University of North Carolina in Charlotte to return to work with the George N. Parks Drum Major Academy. It is always such a great time to work with the Drum Majors and Staff of DMA, and this time was no exception. It was an extra treat to return to the location in which I firth joined the IMPACT Team last year; I was able to see familiar faces and people I hadn’t seen in a year.

One thing reinforced this year was how you can really learn from anyone and everyone, even just by watching. As someone aspiring to become the best teacher I can, DMA is always fantastic to see great teachers work, and understand what goes into making that magic happen. It’s never just the material.

It’s really hard for me to believe that my last DMA of the summer is done and that it is late July already. In a month I will be two days into Spartan Marching Band Preseason. Time is really flying along, and I intend to make the most of every single moment I am afforded.

For everyone involved at any of the DMA locations I was this summer, thank you so much and it was truly a privilege. I can’t wait to work with Paint Branch High School in a few short weeks!
