Working with George N. Parks Drum Major Academy these past days was once again an utterly amazing, inspring, and highly educational experience. On Thursday I took an early flight from Reagan Airport into Orlando and headed off to the University of Central Florida. Boy was it a climate change! Very hot and humid! It was fantastic to work with such a diverse and knowledgeable staff. I certainly learned from everyone involved, including the students!
There really is something very special about this summer gathering of student leaders; even at my fifth DMA I can’t help but leave and feel energized and further inspired to keep following my chosen path. Still got the DMA at UNC Charlotte to look forward to (which might not be took late to register by the way)!
Until then, more summer work on euphonium repertoire, and the chance to work with instrumentalists at the Potomac Valley Instrumental Camp. Going to get to pull my trumpet out again and work with some developing students!
I’m really excited for the rest of the summer. I have so much to look forward too!
P.S. I miss you all in East Lansing!
